WEEDSPORT, NY (July 23, 2024) – The NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Cars are set to make their lone trip to Weedsport Speedway this Sunday, July 28 for the Empire State Challenge.
The Outlaws will be paired with a 50-lap DIRTcar Big Block Modified special, making for a dramatic one-two punch of racing on Sunday evening at The Port.
Sunday’s event at Weedsport will cap four nights of racing in five days for the World of Outlaws as the series stops at BAPS Motor Speedway on July 24 before two nights of racing at the Williams Grove Summer Nationals on July 26-27.
Currently David Gravel, who has won three of the last four Outlaws events at Weedsport, currently leads the series standings by 66 points over Donny Schatz. In the last four races, Schatz is the only other driver to win at Weedsport, besides Gravel.
Trailing the lead duo this season is Carson Macedo, Giovanni Scelzi, Buddy Kofoid, Logan Schuchart, Sheldon Haudenschild, Bill Balog, Brock Zearfoss and Landon Crawley.
Expected to join the Outlaws are a host of ESS Sprint Car invaders as well as the likes of Larry Wight and Danny Varin, who have proven highly competitive against the best 410 racers in the country in previous events at Weedsport.
Sunday will mark the fourth Big Block Modified event of the season at Weedsport. Mat Williamson scored the first two checkered flags of the year with Stewart Friesen capturing the most recent two weeks ago. Another solid field is expected to be on hand this Sunday including Jimmy Phelps, Tim Sears Jr., Peter Britten, Matt Sheppard and more.

General admission seating is set at $35 for ages 13 and up with reserved seating available for $40. Youth general admission is $10 for those 6-12, with kids 5 and under FREE.
Pit admission will be $40 for DIRTcar members and $45 for non-members.
Pit gates will open on July 28 at 3 p.m., followed by grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m., with hot laps set for 6:30 p.m.
