Rain Showers Force Postponement of Empire State Challenge until October 15
WEEDSPORT, NY (May 21, 2017) – Despite a tremendous effort, Weedsport Speedway and World of Outlaws officials have been forced to postpone tonight’s Empire State Challenge to Sunday, October 15 due to a long line of passing showers.
The World of Outlaws were able to conclude time trials and two of their three heat races before the first bout of rain hit the Speedway forcing a delay.
Officials did their best to hold out, but a heavier line of showers at approximately 7:45 p.m. brought an end to the evening.
“We gave it a shot,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “We really wanted to get the show in tonight, but it didn’t work out. We are very excited to bring the Outlaws back on Sunday, October 15 and of course are ready for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Monday event tomorrow.”
Ticket stubs and blue wristbands from tonight’s program will be honored for the Sunday, October 15 reschedule of the Empire State Challenge.
The Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series will join the World of Outlaws as a part of the rescheduled event.
More details on the event will be posted soon to both www.worldofoutlaws.com and www.weedsportspeedway.com.
Weedsport will be back in action tomorrow night with the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds for Big Block Monday presented by Big Dog Country 103.5 FM, joined again by the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series.
