Grandstand Gates Open at 4pm, Qualifying 6:40pm, Racing 7 pm
WEEDSPORT, NY (May 21, 2017) – The Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Empire State Challenge is on as scheduled today at Weedsport Speedway with grandstand gates opening a 4 p.m.
While fans and teams have been keeping an eye on the radar, the Weedsport oval has been dry all afternoon and teams are now arriving for tonight’s racing action whic
h will see hot laps begin at 6 p.m.
Recent checks of the radar show that the approaching front is slowly turning north, giving Weedsport Speedway and World of Outlaws officials cause to press forward with the night’s program as scheduled.
“We have been watching the radar and we are feeling optimistic that this front is going to continue to track north of us,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “Fans are here, the teams are arriving, we are ready to open the season tonight.”
The Craftsman World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series will be joined tonight by the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series and the Senior Services Insurance Agency Sportsman Premium Dash.
Qualifying is set for 6:40 p.m. with racing action to take the green flag at 7 p.m.
Weedsport will be back in action tomorrow night with the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds for Big Block Monday presented by Big Dog Country 103.5 FM, joined again by the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series.
