WEEDSPORT, NY (July 8, 2020) – Due to the extension of New York State Executive Order 202.32 until August 2, 2020, which prohibits spectators from entering race track grounds, Weedsport Speedway has canceled the upcoming Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame 100 and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars Empire State Challenge.
Ticket and camping refunds will be issued for the Hall of Fame 100, slated for Sunday, July 26, and the Empire State Challenge, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 1.
Potential make-up dates for the Empire State Challenge are being discussed, and will continue following an update from New York State in the first week of August.
General Manager Jimmy Phelps stated, “The Hall of Fame 100 and the Empire State Challenge are annually the most exciting events of our season. We are truly crushed to have to make this announcement. We are still looking at trying to get the WOO Sprints back later this fall, and look forward to bringing the Super Dirtcar Series back in a big way in September, but will need some good news out of Albany for that to happen. This is frustrating, but the safety of our patrons has to come first.”
Refunds will be automatically issued to the original form of payment for those who purchased within 90 days of the event. Tickets or camping purchased more than 90 days prior to the event will be issued and mailed a refund check. The campground will remain open if any patron still wished to camp.
With these latest cancelations, Weedsport’s next scheduled event will be the ESS Legends Reunion set for Sunday, August 9. The evening will include the DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRT Modified Nostalgia Tour alongside the ESS Sprint Cars.
Weedsport Kartway will host its first point event of the season, for competitors only, on Sunday, July 12. For more information visit www.weedsportspeedway.com/kartway.
