WEEDSPORT, NY (September 6, 2024) – Due to forecasted rain showers throughout the day on Saturday, the opening round of Weedsport Speedway’s Stirling Lubricants Cavalcade Cup Weekend has been cancelled.
With the Saturday cancellation, Sunday’s program will grow to four divisions as the ESS Sprint Cars, Empire Street Stocks and DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will now be joined by the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, Sportsman Classic 75.
Sunday’s DIRTcar Big Block Modified event will now be 75-laps, paying $6,000 to win and $750 to take the green flag thanks to Stirling Lubricants, A-Verdi Storage Containers and Mohawk Northeast. The Super DIRTcar Series portion of the cancelled program will not be made up.
“We were so looking forward to two great nights of racing, but the Saturday forecast has not improved to a point where we believe we can make that happen,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “Our partners really stepped up for this weekend and we hope to eventually build this weekend into a can’t miss two-day event. But for now, we will focus on Sunday’s program which will feature four huge events and the best Big Block drivers you can find.”
With the change in the racing schedule for Sunday, start times for the afternoon have been moved up. Pit gates will now open at 1 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 3 p.m. and on track action beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Pre-race entertainment will take place in the midway at 3 p.m. with live music by Monica Hall.
All pre-sale tickets for the Saturday portion of the weekend will be automatically refunded.
Those unable to attend on Sunday can watch all the action live on Dirt Track Digest TV.
