The Spano Container Sportsman and NY6A Micros Join the Big Blocks this Sunday!
WEEDSPORT, NY (May 17, 2018) – A three division schedule will highlight Weedsport Speedway’s opening night this Sunday, May 20 with the Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series and the NY6A Micro Sprints joining the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds.
Weedsport’s Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series opens on Sunday will cover seven races at The Port with a minimum of $1,000 going to the winner of each series tilt. An overall series champion will once again be presented with a hefty $2,000 prize following the final series event during the Super DIRT Week Kickoff Party at Weedsport on Wednesday, October 3. The top ten drivers in the standings will receive a point payout.
All seven events on the Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series schedule will be DIRTcar sanctioned providing bonus opportunities for DIRTcar home track points. As a result, a DIRTcar license will be required at all events in order to compete.
Last year’s championship combatants, Kevin Ridley and Dave Marcuccilli, are expected to be in action along with fellow veterans Kevin Root, Corey Barker, Nick Guererri and more.
Joining the veterans will be a host of up and coming talent, including recent feature winners Michael Stanton, Brandon Ford and Tyler Thompson.
More than 30 NY6A Micro Sprints were in the Weedsport pit area last July and another stout field is expected this weekend for the tour’s first stop of the season at The Port.
Tyler Walker topped the 22-car A-Main last season over Scott Kreutter, Jim Young, Brian Vetter and Nate Hendrix.
