WEEDSPORT, NY (April 28, 2025) – Despite being reduced to a single day show, Weedsport Kartway’s 2025 season opened on Sunday with the Spring Meltdown and the day’s events were owned by Tanner Emmons, who went three for three on the afternoon.
Emmons would find victory lane in Tredway Speed Shop Clone Light, Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Clone Heavy, as well as in the day’s headline PRO Clone 375 main, which came along with a lucrative winner’s check of $2,000.
Three wins on the day for Emmons gives him eight career wins at Weedsport, moving him into sole possession of fifth on the track’s all-time win list behind Nick McGill, Dan Marsden, Seth Whitney and Jared John.
Emmons would lead all 40-laps of the day’s PRO Clone 375 feature, after starting second, but had to hold off a late race charge from both Whitney and Chris Natoli, who started the event from the pole position.
Despite falling back early, Natoli rebounded to a runner-up finish behind Emmons, while Mike Farina would eventually come on for third ahead of Whitney and Mike Seefeldt in the top five pay positions.
Trent Smith would prove to be the only other adult winner, aside from Emmons, on the afternoon. Smith came on strong at the end of the DIG Race Products Clone Super Heavy main to top fast timer, Nick McGill.
Jr. PRO main events were topped on Sunday by Joey Surman (Blue), Laina Stewart (Purple) and Lily Walters (Green). Each driver would also lay claim to their companion points paying events during the day.
The victories for Stewart and Walters were their first career main event wins at Weedsport.
The Wallace Racing Promotions Jr. Red Clone division saw a solid field of nine entries with Harloe Russell snagging his second career Weedsport win. Russell held off a flurry of advances by Clark McGruder and Maximus Wallace, as they crossed the line ahead of Michael Kapuscinski and Audrey Wight in the top five.
The first ever Wight Lightning Racing Rookie Red Clone event saw eight drivers in action, which were split into A and B features based on heat race finishes. The day’s 10-lap features were won by Colton Baldwin and Chase Russell.
Weedsport Kartway’s next event will take place on Sunday, May 18. All points classes will again be in action, as well as Jr. PRO, Rookie Red and the $1,500 to win PRO Clone 375 Kart Cup.
