WEEDSPORT, NY (August 7, 2023) – Weedsport Kartway’s Slack Karts Super Kart Series presented by Pit Stop Convenience Stores continued on Sunday with Tanner Emmons joining Weedsport’s $1,000 club after driving to the win in the day’s 30-lap PRO Clone 360 finale.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Emmons quickly worked his way to the runner-up position and eventually stole the top spot from Seth Whitney on the slick and tricky Weedsport surface. As the race wore on, Emmons would drive away from the field and top a hard charging Trent Smith.
Whitney would slide back to the third spot ahead of Gene Gregoric and Jamie Shutts in the front five positions.
The afternoon included two other PRO events for PRO Clone Super Heavy and PRO Jr. Unrestricted.
Weedsport’s all-time win leader, Jared John, added another PRO victory to his resume by claiming the $250 to win PRO Clone Super Heavy A-Main. John edged Nick Tryt and Chance Weaver at the line for the win. John would also win the afternoon’s points event in Clone Super Heavy.
PRO Jr. Unrestricted would see Riley Begy claim the day’s $250 top prize in a tight battle with Dylan Clemons and Aidan McCollister.
Despite not competing in PRO, Dave Foti showed the way in points action by sweeping Clone Heavy and Clone Light in his No. 9. Foti topped his championship point rival, Whitney, in each 25-lap feature event.
A number of junior competitors were again in action, resulting in split feature races for both Jr. Red Clone and Jr. Green Clone.
Read main event wins went to Ryan Barry and August Bassett, while Green main event victories went to Austin Silvernail and Luke Holmes.
Jr. Purple Clone was a barn burner which saw Levi Herriven slide from fifth to first in the last two laps to take another win on the season over Thomas Ruggiero and Tyler Moden.
Before topping PRO Jr. Unrestricted, Riley Begy also visited victory lane in Jr. Blue Clone over Jacob Schulz and Ayden Silvernail. Schulz would score the win in Jr. Unrestricted points over McCollister and Begy.
The Slack Karts Super Kart Series presented by Pit Stop Convenience Stores will continue on Sunday, September 17 with the James Shutts Memorial. Eight points races will be joined by PRO Clone 360 and PRO Clone Super Heavy.
