WEEDSPORT, NY (August 5, 2024) – The Slack Karts Super Kart Series continues this Sunday at Weedsport Kartway with the running of the Short Port Shootout.
The fifth round of this year’s series, presented by Inifinit Technology Solutions, Independent Pizzeria, Burris Racing Tires, Performance Manufacturing and Pit Stop Convenience Stores, will once again feature all eight points classes, along with a $1,000 to win PRO Clone 360 main event.
Pit gates will open on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with one round of hot laps scheduled for 11 a.m. followed by qualifying at Noon. All points classes will again contend in heat races, while PRO Clone 360 will time trial with the chance at a $100 Fast Time Bonus from Precision Racing Products.
The race for the 2024 series championship in all classes is heating up, as only three races remain on the schedule.
Currently Harloe Russell leads the way in Jr. Red Clone, with a slim 7-point edge on Clark McGruder and just a 14-point lead on Bryson Herriven.
The Jr. Green Clone division is one of the tightest this year as the top three of Luke Holmes, Ryan Barry and Liam Pakenham are separated by on 12-points.
Levi Herriven has control of Jr. Purple Clone, but Laina Stewart, Micheal Hugg and Chandler Remp are just 8-points apart in a race for second.
Both Jr. Blue Clone and Jr. Unrestricted are led by Joey Surman, Timmy Axton and Troy Hutton.
Seth Whitney leads the way in both Clone Light and Clone Heavy. Tanner Emmons and Riley Begy are second and third in Light, while Mike Farina and Trent Smith trail in Heavy.
Clone Super Heavy will be a race right to the end of the season between current point leader Jordan Sullivan, as well as William Young and Eric Jewett.
Pre-Registration for the Short Port Shootout will continue via Kart Pass through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 8.
