WEEDSPORT, NY (July 25, 2023) – Weedsport Kartway’s Slack Karts Super Kart Series presented by Pit Stop Convenience Stores continued on Sunday with Seth Whitney cashing in over $1,750 for his efforts as a winner in both Clone Light, as well as the day’s PRO Clone 360 Summer Nationals 35 finale.
Whitney, who sat on the Precision Racing Products pole position for the 35-lap PRO main, battled eventual runner-up Chris Natoli for the majority of the race to claim the day’s top prize of $1,500.
Natoli would end up trailing Whitney to the line by 1.265-seconds with Nigel Pendykoski, Quentin Graham, Dave Foti, Trent Smith, David Hackett, Gene Gregoric, Tanner Emmons and Chris Pier filling the top ten positions.
Graham, a former $1,000 winner at Weedsport, started the event from the 17th position in his No. 17B before ending in the top five.
Whitney would also claim victory in Clone Light earlier in the afternoon topping Graham, who again had to charge from further back in the field, with Foti, Pendykoski and Paige Smith in the top five.
Natoli, who was also a factor in Clone Light before being shuffled back on a late race restart, would go on to win Clone Heavy; proving to be the only driver to beat Whitney all day long. Whitney would fall only .298-seconds short of a clean sweep with Kart Cup winner Jamie Shutts, Thomas Montgomery and Foti ending the Heavy main in the front five positions.
After missing Weedsport’s Kart Cup special in June, Justin Pier returned on Sunday to win Clone Super Heavy over Nick Tryt and Jonny Costanzo.
Junior action once again saw split features for Jr. Red Clone and Jr. Green Clone.
Ryan Barry and Ashtyn Murphy were winners in Red with Austin Silvernail and Luke Holmes earning their first wins in Green.
Levi Herriven charged from seventh on the starting grid to get his first Jr. Purple Clone win over Jackson Welling and Joey Surman.
Riley Begy would go back-to-back in Jr. Blue over Logan Brown and Dylan Clemons, while Kason Fry collected his first Weedsport win in Jr. Unrestricted over Clemons and Aidan McCollister.
The Slack Karts Super Kart Series presented by Pit Stop Convenience Stores will continue on Sunday, August 6 with the Short Port Shootout. Eight points races will be joined by PRO Clone 360, PRO Clone Super Heavy and PRO Jr. Unrestricted.
