This Sunday’s stop for the Super DIRTcar Series to Weedsport will be the second of the season following the Heroes Remembered 100 on Memorial Day weekend.
Mat Williamson continued his Weedsport stranglehold back in May with another victory over Peter Britten, Stewart Friesen, Anthony Perrego and Max McLaughlin.
Since that time Williamson has been the best in the series and leads the Super DIRTcar Series heading into the series stop at Thunder Mountain Speedway on Tuesday, July 9. Williamson’s three wins are the most on tour as he leads Matt Sheppard, Perrego, Britten and Jimmy Phelps in the early series championship battle.
While Williamson won the last Super DIRTcar Series event at Weedsport, Phelps is the most recent Modified winner at The Port as he claimed the 50-lap DIRTcar 358 Modified series special on Sunday, July 7. Phelps made a mid-race pass on Larry Wight to claim the win, worth $5,000.
Sunday will mark the third event of the season for the DIRTcar Sportsman at Weedsport with Cody McPherson, Gavin Eisele, Zach Sobotka, Nick Root and Emmett Waldron leading the way. Root and McPherson were the two winners at Weedsport in May and June.
