WEEDSPORT, NY (July 31, 2023) – A full field of DIRTcar Modifieds joined the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway, with Matt Sheppard coming on strong to earn a $2,500 pay day.
Outside front row starter Dave Marcuccilli appeared to be the driver to beat on Sunday, but a late race caution halted the momentum of the No. M1. Sheppard was able to take advantage on the restart to steal the lead and walk off to a victory of 1.990-seconds over Marcuccilli, Erick Rudolph, Mat Williamson and Tim Sears Jr.
Chasing the top five were Max McLaughlin, Peter Britten, Chad Phelps, Gary Lindberg and Jimmy Phelps.
Heat race wins went to Williamson, Ronnie Davis III and Sheppard.
Weedsport Speedway will next return to action for Cavalcade Cup Weekend on September 9-10.
The DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, ESS Sprint Cars and 600cc Micro Sprints will highlight the Saturday card followed up with the Super DIRTcar Series and the DIRTcar Sportsman Classic on Sunday.
