Weedsport Speedway will come to life on September 5th with a huge holiday doubleheader. The Labor Day Double Play features the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds, as well as the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. The special Monday show highlights two of the top regional sanctioning bodies under one roof for what will certainly be a must-see event.
The Lucas Oil ESS tour will be making their first appearance at the speedway this season on Labor Day as a result of the Legends Reunion rainout in August. Unlike the previously rained out event, the Labor Day show will be a non-points race for the Empire Super Sprints. The last 360 Sprint Car event at the track took place in August of 2015, where Jason Barney slid by Sammy Reakes IV with half a lap to go to claim the 25 lap A-Main.
Joining the Sprints in the pit area will be the Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds for the second time this season. In August, Gary Tomkins stole the victory from Erick Rudolph on the last lap of the thrilling Hall of Fame 100. Expect no different this time around, as the Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds will be once again going 100 circuits with $7,500 going to the victor.
On Monday, September 5th, pit gates will open at 3:00pm, with main gates opening at 4:00pm. Time trials for both Modifieds and Sprint Cars will begin at 5:40pm, while racing action begins at 6:00pm. Tickets for the Labor Day Double Play are $25 for adults 18 and over, while students and children ages 17 and under get a special back-to-school deal in the form of free admission. Reserved seats are $29, pit passes for members are $30, and pit passes for non-members are $35.
