Friesen, Marcuccilli Climb Victory Hill on Memorial Day at Weedsport Speedway!
WEEDSPORT, NY (May 28, 2018) – Beautiful sunny skies greeted race fans and race teams at Weedsport Speedway on Memorial Day for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Heroes Rememebred 100 and the Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series 25 presented by DC Rauscher.
At night’s end it was Stewart Friesen and Dave Marcuccilli climbing to the top of Victory Hill in their respective divisions.
Friesen led all 100-laps of the season opening Super DIRTcar Series event, holding off fierce challenges from HBR teammates ‘Mad Max’ McLaughlin and Jimmy Phelps.
Friesen’s victory was his fourth career Big Block win at Weedsport and it was worth a cool $7,500, picking up a guaranteed starting position in the Super DIRT Week 200 at Oswego Speedway.
McLaughlin, Phelps, Erick Rudolph and Matt Sheppard filled the top five positions with Tim Fuller, Larry Wight, Billy Dunn, Alan Johnson and Brett Hearn in the top ten.
Marcuccilli passed Kevin Root late in the going to claim his first Weedsport win of the season in the No. M1.
Root held on for second ahead of Matt Guererri, Will Shields and Connor Cleveland in the top five.
Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series point leader Kevin Ridley struggled, coming home with a 13th place finish. As a result, Marcuccilli will assume the series point lead.
A full recap of the night’s events will be posted on May 29.
