WEEDSPORT, NY (April 24, 2019) – For the second consecutive year, Weedsport Kartway will invite the top Clone kart racers from across the state of New York to its season ending ‘Octoberfest II’ on September 28-29 to compete in the second annual NYS Clone Invitational, presented in 2019 by Burris Racing Tire.
The $500 to win, 25-lap special, will take place as part of the Saturday night program at ‘Octoberfest II’ and will see the top five drivers in Clone Heavy points from area facilities battle it out for the top prize.
Last year’s inaugural NYS Clone Invitational champion, Jeremy Tuttle, will be a guaranteed starter in the event and will be joined by drivers from Oswego Kartway, Moose Mountain Speedway, Hannibal Kartway, Alleghany Memorial Speedway, Stateline Speedway, Dodge City Raceway, Can-Am Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, Caroga Creek Speedway, Paradise Speedway, Limerock Speedway and Weedsport Kartway.
“We feel this is a great way to finish up the season for racers across the state,” said Weedsport promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “Our track is pretty centrally located in terms of other facilities in the area and we hope to use this race as a tool to promote all of the dirt karting facilities in the state.”
The lineup for the event will once again be determined by a blind draw, unless more than 25 karts are registered for the race. In that case, time trials will take place to set the field of 24 with a Top 12 redraw instituted.
Last year’s inaugural event saw 13 Clone Heavy racers take the green flag in the $500 to win invitational, with Tuttle charging to the early lead and holding off a hard charging Chris Natoli for the win. Jeff Anstett, Nick McGill and Logan Winn were the top five in the running order for 2018 followed by Ken Kart, Matt Matteson, Nick Tryt, Joe Hayden and Phil Young.
The Burris 33a tire is mandatory for all Weedsport Kartway events.
