Sportsman Shootout Series Joins SDS presented by Big Dog Country on May 22
WEEDSPORT, NY (April 8, 2017) – Weedsport Speedway’s ‘Big Block Monday’ featuring the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds and the Sportsman Shootout Series just got a bit bigger, with the announcement of Big Dog Country 103.5 FM signing on to present the evening’s action.
Serving the Rochester Metro area and surrounding counties, Big Dog Country 103.5 FM specializes in the exciting sounds of today’s country while including the best of country gold.
With a mix of superstars like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Alan Jackson along with today’s hottest stars in Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldeen – Big Dog Country 103.5 FM programming is music intensive and designed to relate to and attract today’s country listeners.
While country music is the focal point, Big Dog Country 103.5 FM is Rochester’s exclusive home of NASCAR Monster Energy Cup and Xfinity Series racing.

‘Big Block Monday’ presented by Big Dog Country 103.5 FM will be the third event of the season for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds, featuring the best drivers and teams in the sport.
A total of 16 Super DIRTcar Series competitors have signed on as platinum drivers, following the entire series, and they will join the best in New York State Modified racing at Weedsport on May 22 for a heart stopping 100-lapper.
The Super DIRTcar Series tour will be led by defending series champion Matt Sheppard, who has collected 17 career Weedsport Modified wins including last year’s Super DIRTcar Series Labor Day 100.
Hot on his heels will be last year’s championship combatants Stewart Friesen, Tim Fuller, Billy Decker, Larry Wight, Brett Hearn, Jimmy Phelps, Danny Johnson, and Pat Ward.
Other tour regulars Peter Britten, Keith Flach, Mike Mahaney, ‘Mad Max’ McLaughlin, and Rich Scagliotta will be joined by rookie series contenders Mike Maresca and Brandon Walters.
Couple the tour followers with the likes of Weedsport winners Gary Tomkins, Erick Rudolph, Alan Johnson, Justin Haers plus more – and ‘Big Block Monday’ is shaping into a can’t miss event to cap an amazing two consecutive days of action with Sportsman Shootout series contests taking place each night.
The opening double header at Weedsport will begin with the ‘Empire State Challenge’ on Sunday, May 21 featuring the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the Sportsman Shootout Series.
