As the calendar turns to 2017, the Weedsport Speedway announces the first ever Ultimate Wingless Shootout! A $5,000 to win wingless event for 360 sprint cars from the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and the United Racing Club (URC).
In early August, Erick Rudolph seemed well on his way to a dominating win in the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified feature. However, victory was snatched away from Rudolph on the final lap by Gary Tomkins. This time around, Rudolph would not be denied victory, as he captured his first Weedsport victory in the Super DIRT Week Kickoff Party.
“The Doctor” Danny Johnson scored his first Super DIRTcar Series win of the season at Weedsport Speedway to open the King of the Hill weekend in dominating fashion. Mat Williamson and Tim Kerr led the 31-car starting field to the initial green, with Kerr establishing himself at the top of the charts in the opening circuits.
Matt Sheppard and Chuck Hebing both experienced the joy of reaching the summit of Weedsport’s Victory Hill during the Labor Day Double Play. Sheppard’s triumph was his eighth of the Super DIRTcar Series season, while Hebing’s was his second of the year on the ESS tour.
