WEEDSPORT, NY (July 1, 2024) – A huge month of action at Weedsport Speedway kicks off this Sunday with the ESS Sprint Car Speedweek Finale on July 7.
The night’s doubleheader will feature the ESS Sprint Cars along with the third round of the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series.
The ESS Speedweek finale at Weedsport will be the fifth consecutive night of racing for the 360 Sprint Cars, with the week opening on Wednesday, July 3 at Can-Am Speedway. Each event along the week long schedule will pay $2,500 to the victor.
Among those in action will be ESS standouts Jason Barney, Jordan Poirier, Davie Franek, Shawn Donath, Dylan Swiernik, Matt Tanner, Jordan Thomas, Larry Wight, Danny Varin, Chris Hile and more.
Due to a soggy start to the season, there have only been four ESS events so far this year with Barney, Varin, Franek and Dalton Rombough all scoring victories.
Weather has also hampered the DIRTcar 358 Modified series, as only one event has been held as of July 1. Lance Willix topped Stewart Friesen in the only 358-Modified series race run this year at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park back on Sunday, June 2.
While the series stops at Weedsport this Sunday, the series second event of the year is scheduled for this Wednesday at Can-Am Speedway. Willix leads the series standings over Friesen, Jordan McCreadie, Mike Mahaney, Felix Roy, Billy Dunn, Peter Britten, Brian Calabrese, Mat Williamson and Ryan Bartlett.
Following all the racing Weedsport will celebrate Independence Day with a gigantic fireworks display.
Tickets for the upcoming ESS Speedweek Finale can be purchased online at www.weedsportspeedway.com. Simply click the tickets tab at the top right hand corner of the site’s main page and select ‘Buy Tickets’ for the July 7 event.
General admission seating for adults is set at $35 with reserved seating set at $40. Youth admission ages 11-17 is $15 with kids 10 and under free.
Pit admission will be $40 for DIRTcar members and $45 for non-members.
Pit gates will open on July 7 at 4 p.m., followed by grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m., with racing slated for 7 p.m.
The rest of the month of July at Weedsport will see the Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame 100 on Sunday, July 14, the Summer Nationals at Weedsport Kartway on Sunday, July 21, followed by the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Empire State Challenge on Sunday, July 28.
