WEEDSPORT, NY (April 3, 2020) – For the third consecutive year, Weedsport Kartway will invite the top Clone kart racers from across the state of New York to its season ending ‘Octoberfest III,’ on October 17-18, to compete in the third annual NYS Clone Invitational, presented again in 2020 by Burris Racing Tire.
The $500 to win, 30-lap special, will take place as part of the Saturday night program at ‘Octoberfest III’ and will see the top five drivers in Clone Light and Heavy points from area facilities battle it out for the top prize.
Last year’s NYS Clone Invitational champion, Nick McGill, will be a guaranteed starter in the event and will be joined by drivers from Oswego Kartway, Moose Mountain Speedway, Hannibal Kartway, Alleghany Memorial Speedway, Stateline Speedway, Starlite Speedway, Dodge City Raceway, Can-Am Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, Caroga Creek Speedway, Paradise Speedway, Limerock Speedway and Weedsport Kartway.
“The last two years this has been one of the best races of the weekend at ‘Octoberfest’,” said Weedsport Kartway Promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “This year we are opening up the invite to Clone Light and Clone Heavy racers and we will run the event at the 360 medium weight.”
The lineup for the event will once again be determined by a blind draw, unless more than 20 karts are registered for the race. In that case, time trials will take place to set the field of 20 with a Top 10 redraw instituted.
Last year’s event saw 14 Clone Heavy racers take the green flag in the $500 to win invitational, with Weedsport track champion McGill driving off to victory over Chris Natoli, Octoberfest I champion Jeff Chapman, Thomas Montgomery and Richard Mutaugh.
The Burris 33a tire is mandatory for all Weedsport Kartway events.
