WEEDSPORT, NY (July 18, 2019) – Just over a week following Weedsport Kartway’s Pencils Down Showdown held on Sunday, July 7, Nick McGill has officially been declared the day’s Clone Heavy A-Main winner.
McGill was bumped from third to first position after the top two finishers in Clone Heavy failed post-race inspection.
Official results were put on hold from July 7 so that the AKRA could verify the tech mandate handed down by Weedsport Kartway officials.
“We apologize for the delay in posting official results,” said Weedsport Speedway Promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “We wanted to be sure we did everything we could to ensure that our findings were accurate. We sent the engine in question to the AKRA so that they could verify our findings, which they did. A regional tech inspector for the AKRA came to the same conclusion as our team. I want to thank everyone for their patience and thank our officials for their diligence.”
As a result of post-race technical inspection both Richard Murtaugh and Chris Pier have been scored last in Clone Heavy and PRO Clone 360.
Murtaugh and Pier will receive only show-up points (40) for the Clone Heavy points A-Main and forfeit all money earned in PRO Clone 360. A second technical offense will result in zero points earned.
Doug Payne now officially moves to the runner-up position in Clone Heavy followed by Devon Tonkin, Jake Cratsley and Jeff Chapman.
Jeremy Tuttle showed the way in the day’s PRO Clone 360 main, driving the No. 11 to a $500 victory. Doug Stearly, Trent Curtis, Seth Perrin and Chance Weaver would officially end in the money.
PRO Blue Clone was won in dominant fashion by the No. 22T of Tanner Emmons. Emmons pocketed $250 for his win over Logan Crisafulli, Dylan Begy, Jude Parker and Owen Bird.
The Jr. Blue Clone points main event was once again won by Crisafulli in the No. 88. Bird would take second in a fantastic finish at the line with Begy, Emmons and Parker the top five.
The Jr. Red Clone victor on July 7 was Blake Banek ahead of Levi Godfrey, Deegan Nichols, AJ Vanderpool and Kolton Gamble.
Clone Light once again saw a large field of over 20 entries with John Palmieri taking the checkered flag in the No. 27J. Palmieri topped Devon Tonkin, Mike Adderly, David Hackett Jr. and Tyler Thompson.
Clone Super Heavy saw another competitive feature on July 7 with McGill returning to victory lane in the No. 13. Trailing McGill across the line was Thomas Montgomery, Murtaugh, Matt Chavis and Rick Raner.
