$2,000 to win Pro Clone Heavy and $1,000 to win Pro Clone Light Highlights Two-Days of Racing!
WEEDSPORT, NY (July 27, 2018) – The all-new Weedsport Kartway, built on the grounds of Weedsport Speedway, is set to open for its first official racing event on October 13-14 with ‘Octoberfest at the Port’, featuring a $2,000 to win Clone Heavy A-Main.
‘Octoberfest at the Port’ will feature eight different karting divisions, with multiple racing events, across two days of action.
“We’ve been working very hard on the Kartway the last several months to get us in position to hold this event in October,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “It’s an exciting time at Weedsport and we hope everyone enjoys our first karting event at Octoberfest.”
The weekend of racing will open on Saturday, October 13 with time trials for all divisions which include Jr. Red Clone, Jr. Purple Clone, Jr. Blue Clone, Jr. Unrestricted, Clone Light, Clone Heavy, Clone Super Heavy and Winged Champ Karts.
Jr. Red Clone and Jr. Purple Clone will run A-Mains on Saturday, while all other divisions will compete in A-Main qualifiers based on time trials to help set Sunday’s A-Main events.
Points will be awarded for Saturday time trials and the Saturday A-Main qualifiers, with the highest drivers in points starting at the front of Sunday’s A-Mains.
Following the Saturday night A-Main qualifiers, a special New York State Invitational event will be run for Clone Heavy racers, featuring the top drivers in points from across New York State. The event will be lined-up by a blind draw, with the winner earning $500 and the 11th starting spot in Sunday’s Clone Heavy main.
The racing on Sunday, October 14 will see time trials run for preliminary main events in all classes, including Jr. Red Clone and Jr. Purple Clone which will compete in another set of A-Mains on Sunday.
Any needed B-Mains will follow prelim time trials ahead of prelim features and then the weekend’s championship A-Mains, based off of Saturday qualifying.
A full listing of event details is available below.
Any questions can be e-mailed to kartway@weedsportspeedway.com.
Camping will be available throughout the weekend as Weedsport Speedway is also planning festival style entertainment in the midway on Saturday, October 13 as a part of Octoberfest.
Weedsport Speedway’s action continues this weekend with Hall of Fame Weekend.
Two full nights of racing on Hall of Fame Weekend will include the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Hall of Fame 100 presented by Beam Mack Sales & Service and Page Trucking on Saturday, July 28 with the return of the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Sunday, July 29 presented by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England.
The July 29 return of the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will be the first visit for the series in well over a year, as both events at The Port last season were lost to rain.
The Spano Container Sportsman Shootout Series will contend on both nights with a $1,000 cash bonus available to the top three average finishers across both events from Beyea Custom Headers.
The party continues the evening of Saturday, July 28 as the Portside Party will provide LIVE entertainment following the Hall of Fame 100 featuring Syracuse rock band, REV presented by Bud Light. Learn more about REV at www.facebook.com/rockwithrev.
